Call for applications for the next UNITAR training

As part of its “Training Program on the Fight Against Corruption”, the Hiroshima Office of
the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), supported by Japan and in
collaboration with the Institute of Gorée, in Dakar, launches the call for applications for the
fourth cycle of the program on the following general theme: “The fight against corruption in
the Sahel: young people commit themselves”.

The Program aims to build the capacity of participants to effectively and sustainably prevent
and combat corruption in the Sahel.

In two face-to-face workshops and self-directed activities, the training will focus on the
analysis of corruption in the context of the Sahel, approaches to corruption prevention and
integrity promotion, engagement citizen and social change, as well as on the identification and
strategic planning of actions against corruption.

Targeted at young professionals in the region, from different sectors, the training offers a
unique opportunity to network with other actors fighting corruption as well as with regional
and international experts.

General objectives
At the end of the training the participants will be able to:
     1. Analyze the links between corruption, development and security in the Sahel;
     2. Examine best practices in the fight against corruption;
     3. Develop projects to strengthen accountability, transparency, integrity and participation
at the level of institutions, services or civil society organizations;
     4. Raise awareness, train and engage other key actors at the local or national level to carry
out his project.

REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
Eligibility criteria
It should be noted that the selection will cover a total of 16 participants, men and women. To
participate one must be:
     – A young professional, aged between 20 and 35, from various backgrounds (public sphere,
private sector, civil society, religious aggregations and media).
     – From one of the following countries: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger,
Senegal, Chad.
     – Able to demonstrate interest in the fight against corruption and apply training in work
situation.
     – Demonstrated leadership and sustained commitment (3 years minimum) impacting the
community, country or sub-region.
     – Motivated to actively participate in an exchange that is both multicultural and
multisectoral.
     – fluent in French (spoken and written)

     – Supervisor’s support letter

The training is punctuated by two sessions: one in Dakar and another in Japan.
